nature of the international political system.
Politics is the process of acquiring and using
power, the activities and affairs involved in managing a state or a government.
In the international political system the state is
the most powerful organ for interaction in the international system, it is the
ordering structure of international system, it possesses legitimacy and
sovereignty. States are actors who seek, their own preservation, States seek to
achieve their goals either through internal balancing (increasing economic and
military strength) or external balancing (creating alliances), which in turn
creates an international political system.
Structure
of the international political system.
The political system consists of four major types of
system, each state in the international arena falls under one of the system:
1. Monarch
2. Authoritarianism
3. Totalitarianism
4. Democracy.
The major key to a successful international
political interaction system is sovereignty; a state has to be independent,
free from coercion or interference from forces on the outside. Relationships in
the international political system is furthered by the interactions of various
important actors who all have their different parts to play in the achievement
of a particular goal, they include:
State, intergovernmental organizations,
multinational companies, non-governmental organization, terrorists and
individuals.
Our world is divided into different
stages/polarities ranging from non-polarity to multi polarity, presently we
live in a multi-polar world whereby interactions are being checked by balance
of power. Balance of power is the leash on international political system, it
allows the continuous flow of unity and peace among states in the international
system, and it acts as a check on the excesses of states.
The structure of the international political system
is woven to enable interaction’s and the forgery of alliances between states,
to unite the different unit states and to fulfill their goal.
